FIELD: purification of water. ^ SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method of water purification is dealt with production of materials for water purification. The method of production of the filter material provides for a three-stage impregnation by a saturated solution of calcium hydroxide with exsiccation after each stage at the presence of carbon dioxide before completion of process of a carbonization, then the material is exposed to treatment with a solution of the water-soluble salts of four- and/or penta-valent transition metals from group of titanium, zirconium, hafnium, niobium, tantalum or with a mixture of the indicated solutions with concentration of 0.01-10.0 g/l, whereupon the material is dried, treated with Mn+2 salt, keep in a solute containing oxidizing agent, and finally exsiccate. At that in the capacity of oxidizing agent they use a solution containing septivalent manganese.
