FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of niobium ingots characterized by high chemical homogeneity and mechanical properties. Method comprises melting blanc into intermediate container, accumulation and refining ageing of melt portion therein under effect of electron beam, after which melt portion is poured out into crystallizer, wherein fusion is maintained by heating melt surface by electron beam and ingot forming in crystallizer is stretched. Specific power of electron beam heating melt in crystallizer is selected according to following expression: qk >= K.Wne + A, where qk is specific power of electron beam heating melt in crystallizer, kW/mm2; K is constant equal to 4.6.10-6 mm-2; Wne power of electron beam heating melt in intermediate container, kW; and A = 0.009 kW/mm2. ^ EFFECT: improved quality of niobium ingots due to increased homogeneity thereof with respect to admixtures and improved their mechanical properties. ^ 2 tbl |
