FIELD: water treatment. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reagent methods for treatment of underground water used for drinking water-supply stations and, in particular, is intended for removal of iron and manganese when they are simultaneously present in water. Drinking water is successively treated with potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide followed by filtration on sand filters, provided that hydrogen peroxide is added in proportion to potassium permanganate excess 1:3 and ratio of doses of potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide during water treatment ranges between 15:1 and 6:1. Moreover, potassium permanganate is dosed in excess to its stoichiometric amount needed to oxidize ferrous iron and manganese. ^ EFFECT: increased drinking water cleaning efficiency, including removal of colloidal forms of iron and manganese under low temperature, low alkalinity, and reduced water hardness conditions. ^ 3 cl |
