FIELD: production of carbonaceous refractory materials and articles preferably of dolomite-periclasite composition produced without roasting process. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves heating fuel-oil residue under catalyst layer, such as powdered dehydrogenizers, for example powder of chromium oxide with particle size less than 0.5 mm and catalyst layer thickness ranging between 4 mm and 10 mm. Apparatus has vessel with electric heater. Top end of vessel is closed with net, which is pressed along top contour with cylindrical shell in its middle portion. Layer of catalyst is spilled onto net upper surface.
