A method and apparatus are disclosed for measuring platelet activation in a whole blood matrix under physiological conditions and independent of the activation of a coagulation cascade in the plasma. The system includes a thrombogenic test cartridge (90), and a shear device (94), for measuring the intensity of thrombus formation, and for providing quantitative measurement of platelet functions in a near-patient environment. |
