The minimization profile for identifying files necessary to support required functionality of computer system (10), is obtained from the file record (52) maintained by the computer system and accessed by a file source (50), during operation of the computer system. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) An apparatus for generating minimization profile; (2) use of computer system configured to generate record of files; (3) computer system configured with set of files; (4) a method of configuring computer system with set of files; (5) a minimization profile; and (6) a set of files identified by minimization profile.
