PURPOSE: A stud welding gun with a stud detecting apparatus is provided to connect the closed conduction loop to the stud welding gun easily and to cut down cost by modifying the stud welding gun and adding the conductive element. CONSTITUTION: A stud detecting apparatus(10) is composed of a welding gun(12) having a stud(14) placed in the welding position of a work piece(16). The stud is supplied through a stud transfer supply part(18) and a pneumatic pipe of the stud gun, and a welding tool control unit(22) is connected to the stud gun through a welding current supply line(24). The stud gun is composed of a receiver, a collet having plural longitudinal slits, and a union connecting the receiver to the collet. A conductive element(30) is detachably connected to the receiver and electrically insulated from the receiver, and electrically connected to the ram. The attachment member is contacted between the collet and the ram to close the electric conductive passage.
