PURPOSE: A light blocking film for a display device and a method for manufacturing the light blocking film are provided to improve the light blocking performance and manufacture the light blocking film at low cost, and improve the quality of red, green, and blue pixels. CONSTITUTION: A light blocking film for a display device contains metal corpuscles not limited in shape or uniformity of composition. The thickness of the light blocking film for a display device is lower than 0.9 μm. The optical density of the light blocking film for a display device is higher than 3.3. The light blocking film is formed by applying a solution containing the metal corpuscles on a substrate and drying the applied solution.
