PURPOSE: A method and a device for adjusting the press-fit direction of a steel pipe in steel pipe-horizontal press fit construction are provided to adjust the press-fit direction of the steel pipe without breaking the steel pipe and to press-fit the steel pipe straightly toward a desired point within an allowable error limit. CONSTITUTION: A device for adjusting the press-fit direction of steel pipes(1) in steel pipe-horizontal press fit construction comprises plural pairs of female and male rudder joints(6a,6b), plural combining bolts, upper and lower pin grooves, intermediate pin grooves, fixed pins(8), plural pairs of fixed brackets(7a,7b), and plural hydraulic jacks(9). The female and male rudder joints are welded to positions with a phase difference of 90 degrees, put opposite to inner peripheral surface of each end of steel pipes forming joint clearances(5). The combining bolts integrally combine both steel pipes by combining the rudder joints through combining holes bored in both sides of the rudder joints. The upper and lower pin grooves are formed in the middle of each engaging surface of the female rudder joints. The intermediate pin grooves are formed in the middle of each engaging surface of the male rudder joints, to make the upper and lower pin grooves vertically penetrated when the male rudder joints are engaged with the female rudder joints. The fixed pins are vertically projected to the intermediate pin grooves and inserted in the upper and lower pin grooves of the female rudder joints. The brackets are welded to each inner peripheral surface of the end of the steel pipes oppositely between the female and male rudder joints, with a phase difference of 90 degrees. The hydraulic jacks are detachably installed between the brackets, and the hydraulic jacks widen the space between the joint clearance and the rudder joints by press-fit movement of the front steel pipes.
