PURPOSE: An automatic responding method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to write a short message containing a current situation of a user who lies under a situation in which the user can not receive a call in order to realize an automatic response service, thereby preventing an unnecessary call from being attempted by an originator. CONSTITUTION: A terminal transmits automatic response setup information to an automatic response server in short message type(S21,S22). The automatic response server stores the information, and determines whether to transmit an absent response message in reference to the stored information if a call is requested from other communication terminal(S24,S25). If the server determines to transmit the message, the server transmits a CID(Caller ID) to the terminal(S26,S27). The terminal receives the CID, and stores the CID(S28). If the terminal cancels an absent automatic response setup function, the terminal transmits changed setup information to the server, and returns to a previous mode(S29,S30,S33). The server cancels an automatic response function(S32).
