The procedure consists of machining a recess (9) of simple geometrical shape in a block (8) of a first metal, such as chrome steel, and welding or brazing an element (10) made from a second metal such as grade 6 or 12 stellite and also of a simple geometrical shape into the recess before a blade is machined from the composite block. The initial metal block and the additional element are heated to a temperature of 550 - 780 deg C before being welded together. In variants of the procedure the second metal element can be cut from a bar or applied to the recess in the initial block in molten form, the recess being basically parallelpiped in shape. |
