PURPOSE: A projection type image display device is provided to expand life time of the projection type image display device while minimizing a size thereof by using a plurality of light emitting devices and a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A projection type image display device includes a includes a liquid crystal panel(200), an illumination unit(100) for illuminating the liquid crystal panel(200), a color mixing prism(300) and a projection optical system(400). The color mixing prism(300) mixes three colors, which are modulated by means of liquid crystal panels. A reflection mirror(500) is provided in order to guide light, which has passed through the color mixing prism(300), into the projection optical system(400).
