PURPOSE: An apparatus for recovering the energy of a plasma display panel and a method for the same are provided to use the switch devices having a low internal voltage since the rising edge of the sustain voltage becomes more fast. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for recovering the energy of a plasma display panel includes a plasma display panel, a voltage source(+VS), a first inductor(L1), a second inductor(L2) and a plurality of switching devices(Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4). The voltage source(+VS) supplies the sustain voltage to the panel. The first inductor(L1) recoveries the energy stored at the panel to the voltage source(+VS). The second inductor(L2) charges the energy from the voltage source(+VS). And, the plurality of switching devices(Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4) generates the reverse voltage at the second inductor(L2) by blocking the path between the panel and the voltage source(+VS) and it supplies the reverse voltage to the panel.
