PURPOSE: A method and system for processing an erroneous block of video data are provided to carry out error hiding for an erroneous block when the erroneous block requires error hiding to reduce the quantity of calculations and minimize loss of normal data. CONSTITUTION: A system for processing an erroneous block of video data includes an error block detector(300), an error determination unit(310), and an error processor(320). The error block detector determines whether an erroneous block exists in received video data. The error determination unit determines the quantity of errors of the erroneous block using error generation information transmitted from the error block detector to judge whether error hiding is carried out. The error processor processes the erroneous block according to information about whether error hiding is performed or not, transmitted from the error determination unit.
