PURPOSE: Provided are the extract of arrowroot flower which improves brain function by inhibiting the activity of caspase-3, reducing the decrease of one's memory, and increasing the activity of acetylcholine esterase and choline acetyltransferase, and a manufacturing method thereof. Therefore, the extract is used for drugs and health foods. CONSTITUTION: A drug or health food for improvement of brain function is characterized by containing the extract of arrowroot flowers, wherein the extract is obtained by the steps of: finely cutting the flowers and extracting them with one of water, ethanol and acetone at 30-70 deg.C for 1-4 hours, 2-3 times; and evaporating and concentrating the extract at 30-70 deg.C, and followed by heating and freeze-drying.
