<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording and reproducing method by which satisfactory optical recording can be performed to a recording layer consisting of an environment considering type material with a simple film structure and to provide an optical recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium 10 has a recording layer 18 consisting of a pair of dielectric layers 16A and 16B whose states are changed by a laser beam to be energy whose intensity is modulated according to information to be recorded and a state change promoting material layer 14 interposed therebetween on a substrate 12. The state change promoting material layer 14 consists essentially of at least one element of Sn, Ti, Si, Bi, Ge, C and the like and a dielectric material as a base material in the dielectric layers 16A and 16B contains at least one kind of material of ZnS, SiO<SB>2</SB>, AlN, Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>and the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
