PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image projector advantageous to mass production and cost reduction while holding high optical performance and provided with a thin and large screen and compact optical components. SOLUTION: The image projector is provided with a light valve (LV) for forming an image by modulating the intensity of light and an oblique projection optical system for enlarging and projecting the image formed by the light valve (LV) to a screen from an oblique direction. In the oblique projection optical system, mirrors (M1, M2...) are respectively provided with reflecting optical surfaces (S3, S6, ...) having optical power and a refractive lens (GL) is provided with refractive lens surfaces (S4, S5). The reflecting optical surfaces (S3, S6, ...) comprise eccentric rotationally symmetrical optical surfaces and the refractive lens surface (S4) comprises rotationally asymmetrical free curved planes having one symmetrical plane of plane symmetry, respectively.
