PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the evaluation of the performance of a lens to be examined, in a short time, by easily discovering an air image, while providing an image-enlarging detecting optical system having high magnification for evaluating higher high-frequency components. SOLUTION: The performance evaluation device 1 of the lens includes an image-enlarging detecting optical system 8, disposed to coincide with the optical axis of the lens 6 to be examined for enlarging an object image imaged by the lens 6 to be examined, a moving mechanism 11 for moving the image enlarging detection optical system 8 in three-dimensional directions, and an imaging device for converting the object image output from the image magnification detecting optical system 8. The performance evaluation device 1 of the lens for calculating MTF from the output signal of the imaging element by the FFT includes a magnification altering means for altering the magnification of the image-enlarging detection optical system 8.
