PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for estimating the surface effect of a woven fabric based on the structure of the woven fabric, by which the surface form of the woven fabric is readily and nearly accurately estimated from a texture pattern and an image processing system for exhibiting surface effect of the woven fabric. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 100 estimates the surface effect of the woven fabric by fixed woven fabric structure from the texture pattern of a woven fabric and displays an image so as to display the surface effect of the woven fabric. The image processing apparatus 100 is constituted of a database 5 of the texture pattern of the woven fabric, a database 6 of yarn data, a database 7 of streak data, a means 20 for searching a plain weave texture part, a calculation means 14 for yarn movement force at each texture point, a calculation means 15 for interyarn damping force at each texture point, a calculation means 13 for a movement amount at each texture point, a texture point movement means 12 for moving each texture point by a fixed amount in a given direction in response to the movement amount at each set texture point and an application housing means 22 comprising a central calculation means 21 for synthetically driving and controlling each of the means and a program for performing the drive and control of each of the means.
