<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the arising of noise in the case of printing data in the opened state of a face up tray before the start of printing, to realize energy saving and to prevent the occurrence of JAM when the face up tray is closed in printing. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a main motor which is a driving source for carrying paper, a face up tray part for discharging a sheet of paper so that the printing surface of the paper is turned upward, a face up tray opening/closing sensor for detecting the opening/closing of the face up tray part, a pair of face down discharging rollers for discharging a sheet of paper so that the printing surface of the paper is turned downward, and a stepping motor for rotating the face down discharging rollers independently of the main motor. In the case of printing data in the opened state of the face up tray part before the start of printing, the opened state of the face up tray part is detected by the face up tray opening/closing sensor and paper is discharged to the face up tray part without driving the stepping motor for rotating the face down discharging rollers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
