<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which employs a fixing device of a flash lamp system for forming a toner image on a recording sheet and fixing the toner image and in which its image forming speed can be switched to high speed as required and satisfactory fixing is easily achieved even when the speed is switched to the high speed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a speed mode switching means with which image forming speed for obtaining a recording sheet on which a toner image is formed is switched between a normal speed mode and a high speed mode that is higher than the normal speed mode; and a control means with which, when the image forming speed is switched to the high speed mode, a charging voltage for turning on the flash lamp of a fixing device is made lower than the case of the normal speed mode, thereby time required for charging is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
