<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor that can suppress the occurrence of a malfunction accompanying the defect of a switching element. <P>SOLUTION: This motor drive system is provided with an inverter 6 that feeds an n-phase AC current by combining switches 15 that generate certain single-phase AC currents when n≥3, k≥2 and m≥2 are satisfied, with the n, k and m being integers. The motor drive system is also provided with a motor 1 that is driven by the n-phase AC current and is provided with a stator 2 that has n x k pieces of teeth 12 concentrically wound with m pieces of coils, and series coil circuits 17 for connecting the coils in series wound with the teeth 12 that have the same phases in terms of electricity and are different in positions.
