<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image of relatively near color to the color of a subject while preventing a false signal from being generated. <P>SOLUTION: Image data of RGB (red, green and blue colors) output from a CCD (charge coupled device) is subjected to the white balance correction of full correction in a white balance correcting circuit 1, and luminance data Y1, color difference data Cr1 and Cb1 are generated. The luminance data Y1 are profile-corrected, and parameters α and β are generated from coefficients mr and mb for a lowered correction in a coefficient correcting circuit 8 based on the profile-corrected luminance data Y2.
