PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To break power supply from a charging apparatus to a portable terminal device in case that a cable for signal transmission is connected and drive power is supplied. SOLUTION: This charging apparatus 1 charges the secondary battery of a portable terminal device 2 when the portable terminal device 2 is mounted, and further this is provided with a switching means 10 which breaks a current supply path for the above secondary battery when the portable terminal device 2 is mounted, with a plug 42 for signal transmission connected with itself. Moreover, this charging apparatus 1 is equipped with a power supply terminal 33 which is connectable with the charge terminal 7 for charge of the above portable terminal device 2. The above switching means constitutes a separation mechanism 10 which breaks the connection between an effector 11 being displaced, contacting with the above plug 42, and the above power supply terminal 33 to the above charge terminal 7, interlocking with this effector, when the above plug 42 is connected and the above portable terminal device 2 is mounted.
