PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in current consumption even when comparison is made for two or more. SOLUTION: The associative memory 1 is provided with two comparator circuits 11, 12 and a comparison control circuit 13 for each entry. The comparator circuits 11, 12 compare a bit string from a bit string distribution circuit 2 with a bit string stored in an SRAM cell 15 twice. For the two bit groups of 2 kinds of data A<n:0>, B<n:0>, comparison is executed twice by using the two comparator circuits 11, 12. When noncoincidence is detected at the first comparison, an output line L1 is not precharged at the second comparison.
