The optical sensor (10) has at least one elongate light conducting element (1). This element has, along its length, at least one reflecting layer (6,7,8,9) and at least one light interrupting, and preferably light absorbing, segment (4,15). The segment at least partly interrupts the propagation of light when the light conducting element is bent. The optical sensor is made up of several layers which are preferably film layers. Independent claims also cover a method of manufacturing such a sensor.
