OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE COMPONENT AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide component whose polarization-dependency loss is suppressed and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide component has its core formed on a quartz substrate structure 5 by depositing quartz to which a dopant is selectively added. On the substrate surface and the core, quartz is deposited to cover the core with a clad layer.
