PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for lighting a discharge lamp for suppressing overshoot upon polarity inversion of an AC rectangular wave voltage/current. SOLUTION: An inverter 12 converts DC power supplied from a converter 11 into the AC rectangular wave power to output it. A power calculating part 20 generates a power detection signal from a voltage detection signal and a current detection signal detected on an output side of the converter 11. A control target value setting part 22 outputs an output power instruction value for controlling the DC power to the target value. A correction signal generating part 25 outputs a correction signal for correcting the instruction value in response to the detection signal in synchronization with the polarity inversion of the AC rectangular wave power. A converter control signal generating part 21 outputs a signal corresponding to an error of the power detection signal to the instruction value. A pulse width control part 23 provides pulse width control to the converter 11, based on the signal supplied from the control signal generating part 21. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
