PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently clean a recording head in an inkjet printer. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer (1) forms and records an image on a recording medium by discharging an ultraviolet curing ink to the recording medium (P) from a plurality of nozzles (42) of the recording head (4). A maintenance unit (6) to maintain the nozzles is composed of an ink absorber (8) absorbing the ultraviolet curing ink adhering to the nozzles and an ultraviolet light irradiation section (20) irradiating the ink absorber with ultraviolet light. The ink absorber cleans the nozzles of the recording head by absorbing the ultraviolet curing ink adhering to the nozzles and the ultraviolet light irradiation section irradiates the ultraviolet curing ink absorbed by the ink absorber with ultraviolet light and curing the ink, making the handling of the ink absorber after use easy.
