PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device having a mechanism of preventing blurring due to defocusing from becoming conspicuous, although the defocusing occurs and a poor video appears in the case of switching from an AF mode to an MF mode, as for an AF/MF type zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is constituted of a 1st group for manual focusing, a power varying group and a relay lens group in this order from an object side. The AF focus lens group is arranged in the relay group. In the case of switching from the AF mode to the MF mode, the power varying group is driven toward a wide angle end, linked with the automatic return of the AF focus lens group.
