PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric operating apparatus for a chuck, in which a braking means interlocking with a clutching means does not require a large acting force, and the torque of a driving means is sufficiently controlled by a small acting force. SOLUTION: The electric operating apparatus for a chuck is configured as follows. The electric operating apparatus uses an electric motor as an operating source for operating a chuck used in a lathe, etc. A clutching means is provided between the electric motor and a speed reducing means for reducing a rotational speed and for increasing a turning torque. In addition, the braking means for braking the rotational motion is provided between the clutching means and the speed reducing means.
