PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable solid electrolytic capacitor with a good yield where a shorting defect occurrence rate is reduced by preventing the formation of burrs when valve metal foil is cut, and to provide a method for efficiently manufacturing the highly reliable solid electrolytic capacitor. SOLUTION: When valve metal foil is obtained by cutting valve metal foil where an insulating oxide film used for the solid electrolytic capacitor is formed, a cut blade is cut in depth in a prescribed range below a material thickness, and is cut so that a square are is formed in the direction of a plane. Thus, the solid electrolytic capacitor is obtained by using the valve metal foil where a burr exceeding the material thickness is not formed in a cut face. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
