PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a BiTe group polycrystalline thermoelectric material which has a high performance index and is inexpensive. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing a thermoelectric conversion material includes a process in which a raw material powder containing two or more kinds of materials selected from Bi, Te, Se and Sb and CuBr or SbI<SB>3</SB>as a dopant as necessary is subjected to mechanical alloying, so that the powder of 50 mass% or more is alloyed in a single phase by a vibration mill means or a planetary mill means;a process of pressing the obtained powder by a single-axis press to obtain a molded body having a relative density of 65% or more; a process of applying thermal processing to the molded body in a hydrogen so that the oxygen concentration becomes 2,000 ppm or less; and a sintering process of sintering the molded body by resistance-heating while applying pressure.
