PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness of a cam when the target cam position is changed by improving the follow-up ability of the cam movement when mechanical loss is increased in cooling the engine. SOLUTION: The variable valve control device of the engine is constituted so as to control a cam position moving means to make an actual cam position of the cam at the target cam position. The variable valve control device is provided with a cam position detection means, an operation state detection means, an engine related value detection means, a feedback control amount calculation means calculating the feedback control amount based on the deviation between the actual cam position and the target cam position, a feed forward control amount calculation means calculating the feed forward control amount by increasing the temperature of the cooling water of the engine of at least the engine related value as it is low, and a control amount calculation means calculating the control amount to move the cam to the target position from the feedback control amount and the feed forward control amount.
