PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erosion resistant member for nonferrous molten metal which has excellent wear resistance and erosion resistance at a relatively low production cost. SOLUTION: The erosion resistant member for nonferrous molten metal is obtained by providing at least a part to be contacted with molten metal in a base material consisting of an iron-based or steel-based material with a covering layer consisting of a high speed steel-based alloy. The total area ratio of carbides such as MC-based, M<SB>2</SB>C-based, M<SB>6</SB>C-based, M<SB>7</SB>C<SB>3</SB>-based, M<SB>4</SB>C<SB>3</SB>-based and M<SB>23</SB>C<SB>6</SB>-based carbides contained in the covering layer is≤25%.
