<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which properly deals with an environmental problem and prevents the emission of harmful substances from itself such that, even in the case of the image forming apparatus having a cheap discharging means using a heat-resistant resin, a reaction is caused between ozone produced by a charging means and a transfer means and a volatile organic substance (VOC) produced during the heat fixing of a fixing means to make such substances harmless, thereby preventing the emission of volatile organic substances, in particular formaldehyde. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an exhaust device that creates an airflow in order to discharge air in the apparatus to the outside. The exhaust device is provided with a reaction process for preventing contamination by causing a reaction between ozone produced by the charging means and the transfer means and volatile organic substances produced during the heat fixing of the fixing means both of which are present in the airflow. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
