<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transfer buffer which can be shared between channels having different data transfer speeds and having high cost performance. <P>SOLUTION: The data transfer buffer comprises: a plurality of storage means 111 having specified capacity respectively, holding inputted cells in the order of input, and successively outputting the held cells; a plurality of timers 112 in which specified times are set, respectively as grace time, until the cell outputted from the corresponding storage means 111 is transferred; and a transfer means 113 transferring the cell outputted from the corresponding storage means 111 to a communication means 101 corresponding to the address channel of the cell until the corresponding grace time, and transferring the cell to the post-stage storage means 111 when the transfer means 113 receives a notification indicative of the elapse of the grace time from the corresponding timer 112.
