PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display unit which can perform the contour correction of a video image comprising a high-frequency component. SOLUTION: The image display unit 100 has a luminance signal processing circuit 1, a farb difference signal processing circuit 2, a RGB matrix circuit 3, a CRT drive circuit 4, a CRT 5, a plurality of virtual machine coils 20<SB>1</SB>-20<SB>n</SB>, a plurality of scanning velocity modulation circuit blocks 50<SB>1</SB>-50<SB>n</SB>, a horizontal deflection circuit 90, a vertical deflection circuit 91, a horizontal deflection coil 92 and a vertical deflection coil 93. An electron beam performs horizontal scanning and vertical scanning by the horizontal deflection coil 92 and the vertical deflection coil 93. A speed modulated current VMI is supplied from the plurality of scanning velocity modulation circuit block 50<SB>1</SB>-50<SB>n</SB>to the plurality of VM coil 20<SB>1</SB>-20<SB>n</SB>. Thereby, a horizontal deflection magnetic field is generated from a plurality of virtual machine coil 20<SB>1</SB>-20n.
