PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone in which a message can be transmitted readily and surely to an answer phone without requiring an answer phone having a special function. SOLUTION: When a calling party calls a called party and an answer phone on the side of the called party responds to the call, a recording start tone (e.g. a continuous sound "feep" tone) is detected and an answer phone response message previously registered in a telephone on the calling party side is delivered and then the circuit is disconnected.
