PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate head drive control, as usual, for overheat of a head driving switching element or ambient temperature variation of a print head while decreasing the number of wires being connected with a flexible flat cable. SOLUTION: The head drive controller performs drive control of a print head on a printer body side substrate 1 based on information being received from a means 4 for detecting the ambient temperature of the print head, and a detector 36 for detecting overheat of the head driving switching element 35 through a single signal line 21.
