Seal esp. for piston/piston rods and cylinders has curved sealing surface moving across changing surface during relative rotation of components

The seal has a curved sealing surface (20) acting between two surfaces, e.g. piston jacket (12) and cylindrical inner surface (32) of a piston guide (30). During relative turning movement of the surfaces about a pivot axis (16), the sealing surface moves across a surface, which changes parallel to the pivot axis. The curve of the sealing surface may be closed, have the shape of a periodic function, or a sinus function. One of the surfaces to be sealed has a groove to accommodate a sealing element (18), e.g. esp. plastic sealing ring.
