A transparent moon-plate (2) is attached to a carrier plate (1) and is illuminated from a light source (3) behind the moon-plate. A cover with two opposing cover plates (4a,4b) corresponding to the diameter of the moon-disc are rotatably arranged on the carrier plate. The center of rotation is selected so that when the cover is rotated the cover plates cover the moon plate completely, partially or not at all, corresponding to the phase of the moon. A drive continuously rotates the cover. Independent claims are included for a radio; a wall-clock or floor-standing clock; and a wall light.
