<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article information inquiry system which links actual stores to virtual stores on the Internet by causing a bar code recognizing function installed in cellular phones to coordinate with the Internet. <P>SOLUTION: A book information inquiry system 1 is comprised mainly of a management server 3 connected to the Internet N and installed and operated by an Internet bookstore E or the like; a customer's terminal 2 connected to the Internet N and used by a customer C who buys a book B; and a bookstore's terminal 4 installed in the bookstore R to enable the customer C to check the content of the book B, etc. The customer C acquires the book identification data of the book B and the position date PD of the bookstore R at the bookstore R, and sends order data OD to the management server 3 according to them to order the book B.
