PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-color image forming method and a color image forming apparatus for selecting 2-color processing in automatic color selection (ACS). SOLUTION: Basic setting procedures for the two-color processing includes: a step S2 of applying automatic color select processing to an original so as to discriminate the original is a full color original or a monochromatic original; a step S13 of discriminating whether or not a character region with a prescribed threshold value or over is present on the original when the original is discriminated to be the full color original; a step S15 of making a user select the full color processing or the two-color processing when the character region with a prescribed threshold value or over is present on the original; and steps S10, S12 of applying the full color processing or the two-color processing to the original depending on the selection result to form an image.
