PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pixel density converter in which an image enlarged or contracted in an arbitrary magnification can be attained through a relatively simple arrangement without using a field memory or a frame memory. SOLUTION: A line delay section 2 outputs signals of a plurality of adjacent lines at a timing of high frequency clock, and an enlarging section 3 carries out vertical interpolation and horizontal interpolation simultaneously. A contracting section 4 performs decimation for the output from the enlarging section 3 in units of integer fraction pixel to produce an image signal having desired number of horizontal and vertical samples. Since neither a field memory nor a frame memory is required and the number of taps of an LPF can be decreased significantly, scale of the circuit can be limited. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
