PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL light emitting device, having excellent waterproof/dampproof effect and high safety, while suppressing decrease in luminance intensity as much as possible. SOLUTION: The EL light emitting device comprises an EL light emitting layer having an EL light emitting body to form a surface shaped light emitting area, and an electrode part having first and second electrodes arranged on one surface side of the EL light emitting layer, which are close each other, electrically insulated with a boundary area in between, and have a predetermined pattern. On other surface side of the EL light emitting area, an AC electric field forming body for forming an AC electric field inside the EL light emitting layer by AC power source voltage applied between the first electrode and the second electrode can be attached. A waterproof layer made of a synthetic resin is arranged between the first and second electrodes and the EL light emitting layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
