PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation and purification apparatus for nucleic acid, realizing the separation and purification of a nucleic acid by adsorbing the nucleic acid in a specimen to a solid surface and desorbing the nucleic acid by washing, etc., having excellent separation performance and washing efficiency, enabling easy processing, using a solid phase producible in a mass to obtain solid phase products having essentially same separation performance and easily automated to shorten the operation time. SOLUTION: The separation and purification apparatus for nucleic acid is provided with a cylindrical syringe having a tip end part to form a 1st opening and a base end part to form a 2nd opening and capable of holding a liquid in a holding part between the 1st opening and the 2nd opening, and a solid phase holding member connected to the tip end and having a flow hole at the tip end side. A solid phase enabling the adsorption and desorption of nucleic acid in the specimen solution and composed of an organic polymer having hydroxy groups on the surface is held in the solid phase holding member.
