PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct work for checking and inspection, maintenance and the like over a wide range for a furnace bottom section, by removal of the reduced number of control rod guide tubes or the like, or in a reduced installation frequency of a working device. SOLUTION: This working device is provided with a base body 8 and a symmetric body 9 connected by an expansion and contraction linking mechanism 10, and each of the base body 8 and the symmetric body 9 is provided with slide arms 11a, 11b wound onto a CRD housing 3 provided in a bottom section of a nuclear reactor pressure vessel or an outside of a stub tube 2, a traveling tool 13 for traveling on an outer circumference of the CRD housing 3 or the stub tube 2, and a working unit 28 for conducting the work for the checking and inspection, the maintenance and the like for the bottom section of a nuclear reactor pressure vessel.
