PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding method by which scratched flaws due to wastes generated by grinding are not left on a face ground when an end face of a cylindrical workpiece is ground. SOLUTION: In the grinding method, the end face Wt of the cylindrical workpiece W is ground by a grinding wheel G having a conical grinding face on the outer periphery. The method comprises; a grinding process for carrying out the end face grinding by providing a groove Gm of the circumference of a grind-stone axis in a grinding face Gb so as to counter to the face 22 to be ground by making the face 22 to be ground and the groove Gm counter, and by relatively moving the workpiece W and the grinding wheel G in the direction of a main shaft axis Os; and a grinding process for carrying out the end face grinding by suspending a relative movement of the direction of the main shaft axis Os, and by relatively moving the workpiece W and the grinding wheel G in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the main shaft axis Os.
