PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous coating method of a band-shaped material by a roll coater by which roping defect can be prevented even when coating is performed at high speed. SOLUTION: In the continuous coating method of the band-shaped material, paint P adhered on a peripheral surface of a pick up roll 2 is made to pass through a space between the pick up roll and a metering roll 3 and then is transferred on a peripheral surface of an applicator roll 1 rotating in a direction opposite to the pick up roll and then the paint on the peripheral surface of the applicator roll is transferred and is coated on a surface of the band-shaped material S advancing in a direction opposite to the applicator roll. In this case, when peripheral speed of the applicator roll is V<SB>A</SB>, peripheral speed of the pick up roll is V<SB>P</SB>, line speed of the band-shaped material is L<SB>S</SB>, the peripheral speed of each roll V<SB>A</SB>, V<SB>P</SB>and the line speed L<SB>S</SB>are respectively adjusted so as to satisfy respective conditions: V<SB>A</SB>-L<SB>S</SB>≥100 mpm, V<SB>A</SB>-V<SB>P</SB>≥150 mpm and V<SB>P</SB>≤100 mpm.
